Christmas 2007

'bout time I blogged again the last post was back in July, every 6 months isn't very good. Did you notice I added a flickr to our blog now (with a little help from son-in-law Dan) - we should be able to get some pictures to share. We had a great Christmas! My side of the family or about 1/2 of my side was at our place on Christmas eve I think their were 28 people here. It was great to see all the nephews and nieces again and also their kids. On Christmas day we celebrated over at Anita and Rob's place along with Rob's parents and his sister. Oh what fun to watch the little kids open their presents. Logan could hardly wait to open presents and then couldn't open them fast enough. Garrett preferred to play with the wrapping paper and let Logan open his gifts.
Emily drove up from Santa Barabara, Melanie & David and Michelle & Dan and Addison flew in. Addison is 5 months now and becoming quite an accomplished traveler. So our entire family was able to be together for a few days! I think a good timer was had by all I know we did.

Vacation

Vacations always seem to arrive too slowly and are over with too quickly. We had a great vacation. We were at Dan and Michelle's place from Friday night to Tuesday morning. Carole was able to go to Michelle's baby shower put on by Dan's mother, his aunt and his sister. They had a very enjoyable afternoon while Dan and I went around to several nurseries (not the baby kind) and picked up the plants for their garden. When Carole and Michelle came home we planted the garden with the help of Michelle who supervised from a lounger. We also got in on some prep work for painting the rental. Sunday we all went to church at Mars Hill which I really enjoy. After church we played some Catan which despite Michelle's whining about poor board position she managed to win every game we played, much to my dismay because I'm a much better player. Carole managed to make a couple of hot dishes to put in the freezer for later use and also her delicious Strawberry desert. We also managed to squeeze in a couple games of cards and a game of Blokus. On Monday we spent some time at Reeds Lake watching Ruby fetch and trying to keep her from chasing the ducks. It was a great time but was too short.

We flew from Dan and Michelle's place back to San Francisco and spent the afternoon touring some of the shops in Union Square. We had a great lunch at the Cheesecake Factory on top of Macy's over looking the Square. We ate outside. Later we rented a movie and turned early. Our plane for Omaha left at 6:20AM so we had to grab a shuttle to the airport at 4:30AM.

We rented a car in Omaha and drove the 3 hours to Colton. We arrived in Colton about 5PM and had dinner with Carole's mother and siblings. Cal arrived from WA at about 7PM so all Carole's family was around which was nice. We got to play scrabble with mom (she won no surprise). Thursday night Jordan took us out to Klingenburgs place to show us some calves he is thinking of showing at the Fair. On Friday we drove to Hills and spent some time with Myrna and Todd and their family. Aunt Joan stopped in their AM for coffee and we drove to Pipestone to visit Uncle Dan in the hospital. He had knee replacement surgery. Later we played on the lawn with the nephews and niece. Al and Julie joined us for Dinner in Sioux Falls and afterword we went to a park so the kids could burn off some of that pent up energy.

Saturday night we went to Ruth and Ray's place where we had a barbecue. After dinner we went outside and kicked the soccer balls around for awhile. We managed to get a couple of pictures of Carole's family. We played a game of Apples to Apples after dinner, Mom won. I think she cheated. On Sunday we went to church in Colton where we had a chance to see a lot of people that we wouldn't have seen other wise. After church we had Lunch a Mom's place with the rest of the family and then went back to Omaha to catch the plane to SFO. We arrived in SFO about 10:30PM so we went to our condo in SF and spent the night there. the next morning we went out for breakfast at a great Little 50's place called Lori's Diner the food was great and the music was fabulous. After breakfast we packed our stuff walked to BART and went to Pleasanton where Rob picked us up. Of course in the evening we had to go see those grand kids.

I am still trying to figure out how to do this blogger thing. I know how Gma feels when she says that she is lost with all this new technology. I must have done something right because I'm in now. Speakking of technolgy I loaded SKYPE on my computer and am now talking to uncle Dan and Uncle Rich on my computer and can actually see them but the bes feature is it's free.
I like this bloggging better than the web site it seems esasier to upload pictures etc.
